Zagat’s 2009 U.S. Hotels, Resorts & Spas survey provides information about 1,001 hotels, resorts and spas in the U.S. The survey uses information from more than 14,000 leisure and business travelers and travel professionals. Travel professionals include meeting planners, travel managers and travel agents. 2009 Zagat’s Survey Results - Booking Travel OnlineThe 2009 Zagat’s survey results provide insights about leisure and business travelers who book travel online. Of travelers surveyed, 76% report booking travel online. Of the travelers who book reservations on the Web, 82% book airline travel online, 74% book hotel room reservations and 65% reserve car rentals on the Web. However, Zagat’s 2009 U.S. Hotels, Resorts & Spas survey found that only 33% of travelers surveyed book restaurant reservations online. Zagat’s 2009 Hotel Survey Results- Economic TrendingAccording to Zagat’s 2009 U.S. Hotels, Resorts & Spas survey, business travel declined this year- 30% of travelers surveyed stated they travel less for business today while only 21% of travelers stated that they travel more. A number of reasons were cited for the decline in business travel. Of business travelers surveyed, 26% stated that company travel policies were the reason for the decline in business travel. In addition, 15% of business travelers stated that personal economics had resulted in a decline in business travel. Other reasons cited for decreasing business travel this year on the Zagat’s 2009 U.S. Hotels, Resorts & Spas survey included economic uncertainty and high airline prices. Tim Zagat, CEO of Zagat Survey, is still optimistic about the future of the travel industry: “The travel industry is certainly affected by the economic crisis.
